IntelComp wasn’t built from scratch — it was evolved from InterlinkIQ, our original compliance management platform designed for food safety and regulatory frameworks like HACCP, FSVP, and GMPs. InterlinkIQ had helped hundreds of food companies streamline their compliance programs, and that success planted a bigger idea:

What if we could bring the same structure, clarity, and automation to cybersecurity compliance?

At the time, we were already seeing parallels between food safety and cybersecurity — both were burdened with overlapping requirements, complex documentation, and audit fatigue. But as we shifted focus to support contractors preparing for CMMC and NIST 800-171, we realized the tools in the market weren’t built for them. They were either too technical or too rigid.

So we started simple — again.

We mapped out the CMMC Level 1 practices in a spreadsheet and built a basic checklist. That was our first MVP. It helped small contractors track requirements and gather documents, but it quickly became clear that they needed more than checkboxes — they needed context, guidance, and visibility.

We listened to our users, iterated quickly, and expanded features based on real use cases:
